Coventry City have completed the signing of experienced player Destiney Toussaint from Birmingham City. The winger penned a deal with Birmingham City last summer after a long injury layoff but she struggled to get into the Birmingham City starting XI in the FA Women’s Super League (FAWSL).
She only made one start for the midlands club in the league this season in addition to five other appearances from the substitutes’ bench. His only start in the FAWSL came against Arsenal in December. Birmingham City lost that game 3-0 to the Gunners. Destiney Toussaint has been able to return to full fitness at Birmingham City after her long injury layoff as pointed out earlier. Birmingham City manager Carla Ward didn’t give her more playing time at the club in the first half of the season and she would be hoping to enjoy more playing time at his new team, Coventry City. Her signing was officially confirmed by Coventry City earlier on Friday via their official Twitter handle.
Winger Destiney Toussaint is not a stranger to Coventry City having played for the club some years ago. He has signed for his second spell at Coventry City after the first spell took place between 2012 and 2014. The majority of her career has been in and around the midlands. He began her career as a professional footballer at Leicester City before making his first transfer to Coventry City around nine years ago. Toussaint has played 13 years at the highest level of women’s football and she will definitely put that experience to good use during his second stint as a Coventry City player. Apart from Leicester City, Coventry City and Birmingham City, Destiney Toussaint has also represented Aston Villa during her career.
Destiney Toussaint is not new to second tier football in the women’s game in England after she played for London Bees, Aston Villa and Oxford United. She’s in line to make his debut in the colours of Coventry City in the second tier on Sunday when the club faces Sheffield United at St. George’s Park.
