Birmingham City manager Lee Bowyer and his players have lost their way in the English Championship after a good start to the season. Ex-Leeds United and Newcastle United midfielder Bowyer has been a success in his first months as a Birmingham City manager.

Relegation from the English Championship was starting to look like a possibility for Birmingham City until Bowyer intervened and was able to secure the club’s safety upon his appointment in the final weeks of last season. Bowyer led Birmingham City into the playoff places at the end of the first six matches of the new Championship season but things have fallen apart in the last four games.

Birmingham City have picked up just one point from a possible twelve (12) points over the last four Championship games including the 2-0 defeat to London club Queens Park Rangers (QPR) away from home. Moroccan winger Ilias Chair was the star of the show as he scored twice for QPR either side of the halftime break.

Chair scored the first of the two goals on 34 minutes before he completed his brace on 64 minutes to wrap up the game at the expense of Birmingham City. The result ensured that the midlands club took their winless run to four games.

The run of matches without a win started just after the 2-0 victory at home to Derby County. London club Fulham secured a comprehensive 4-1 away win over Birmingham City at the start of the run before a disappointing 3-0 loss at the home of Peterborough with ten men made it two winless matches. The goalless draw at home to Preston North End last weekend then made it three games without a single victory for Birmingham City. The Preston North End game preceded the defeat to hosts QPR at Loftus Road on Tuesday.
