DEPARTURES

Birmingham City only recently sold defender Curtis Davies to Hull City and they could be set for another major departure from St Andrews after manager Lee Clark has said that striker Nathan Redmond could be sold between now and the end of the transfer window.

The financial difficulties at the West Midlands club are well documented. Hence, they have been selling a number of their better players in order to raise enough money in such a way to ward off their financial troubles. Curtis Davies was one of the impressive players for the club last season as they finished mid-table.

It looks like the club will be unlikely to challenge for a play-off position in the coming season after selling one of the influential defenders, while one of their best strikers also looks set to leave the club. A number of Premier league clubs like Swansea and Norwich are thought to be interested in securing his services. He could cost in the region of £ 2 million. Clark has said that there are almost 8 clubs interested in signing him, but he believes that he will ultimately end in the Premier league.

Redmond made 38 appearances for Birmingham last season. He scored two goals and created six in these matches. Birmingham struggled with the prospect of relegation in the first half, but recovered in the second half of the season.
“The truth, me being transparent and not speaking out of line, is that there are six to eight Premier League clubs interested in Nathan. That’s in various different ways.

Sometimes you get a call from an agent, then get a call from the player’s agent, sometimes you get an inquiry from a fellow manager. Now what we’ve had are three bids, two that have been accepted and one that hasn’t been accepted,” said Clark.
