Birmingham City teenager Jordan James has signed a first professional contract at the club. The English Championship outfit confirmed the news of a first professional contract for James at the weekend.
The teenage midfielder had earlier provided the assist for the only goal of the game when Birmingham City played hosts to newly promoted team Blackpool. Substitute Lukas Jutkiewiczcame off the substitute bench to score the winning goal for Birmingham City nine minutes from time and end a run of three games without a win. Jutkiewicz had come on as a second half substitute for ex-Watford striker Troy Deeney.
James was given the chance to show his quality from the start in a Birmingham City first team shirt for the first time and he delivered with the assist for the goal that sealed all three points. The teenager was on for the entire duration of the English Championship outing. He was able to seize his opportunity in the absence of more established midfielders like Ryan Woods and Gary Gardner.
On his new contract, James told the Birmingham City website that it has been a long nine years and that it’s worth it. He went on to say that it’s a proud moment for the club, the staff and his family.
James played his first game for the Birmingham City first team as a substitute during the 3-0 home win over Bristol City in the league at the start of this month and he has come off the bench twice before the game against the Tangerines on Saturday.
Birmingham City boss Lee Bowyer praised the attitude shown by James since he started playing for the first team while speaking about his first professional contract. According to him, James has done what has been asked of him.
