Birmingham City have been dwindling in the Championship middle table echelons since their relegation some seasons ago from the Premier League. The Blues face Promotion hopefuls Sheffield United on Wednesday as they look to consolidate on their mid-table position.

However, according to news from the local media star striker,Che Adams could be on his way to a Premier League club in the summer. Adams is one of the key players for the club having joined from Sheffield United three seasons ago.

It is understood that Southampton, Everton, Burnley and Championship leaders Norwich City are leading the race for the 22-year-old.  Adams is known for his pace, position and deadly finish in front of goal and would be ideal for a middle table Premier League club.

The Englishman has been sensational this season netting 22 goals and has been a large reason for the club not fighting in the relegation scraps. His latest goal came in the defeat of Leeds United last Saturday and many clubs want the pacey forward.

Southampton is said to be leading the race as RaphHasenhuttl is keen on adding the youngster to the squad next season. the Saints have struggled for goals all season with the likes of Charlie Austin, Shane Long and Nathan Redmond contributing little in terms of efforts in front of goal. The 22-year-old is also at an ideal age for the club as he could be sold for a big fee in future.

Birmingham wants to make as much from the transfer with the forward valued at £15 million which would represent a significant gain from the £1.7 million paid to Sheffield United for his services.  If the club is successful in selling Davies at the price it would surpass the record fee received which stands at £6.7 million for Jermaine Pennant in 2006
